I know a number of you on here have darling teenagers or have been through it all so I thought I'd ask for some advice.

My daughter is 11 going on 30 and I am struggling with her at times. I know kids are all different and have heard that boys are easier than girls but I just wondered if anyone had any pearls of wisdom for me as I embark on this treacherous journey - things that worked or even didn't work, in fact anything that would help me at all.

ok I'll ask - what's an Emo :dunno:

and as for not being a 'supermum extrodinaire', show me someone who is, we all do our best at the time, but the buggers have a habit of going their own way !!

An Emo is sort of like a goth but they do or don't cut themselves depending on who you ask as they are supposed to be always depressed. They wear a lot of black and are 'emotional' hence the emo. Beth tells me that they don't cut themselves as that is just said by people who just 'don't understand!'.
She likes to wear black but beyond that she is a happy teenager so I just find it amusing.

my son at the age of 12 started to slam doors. so i just took it off him.
get a cordless screwdriver and keep it charged and handy. as soon as they run to the room in a huff and slam it. off you trot and remove it for 3 days.
it worked well.
i also cut his plug off his Hifi when he wouldnt turn it down

i just got fed up with the arguing,
oh when your removing the door you might get taunts like

take my door see if i care

is that meant to annoy me

its only a door whats that meant to do

what you have to do is develope a whistle, a workies whistle  im sure you know the time. its not really any tune just made up.

i nearly drove him off his head.
he tells me this now and we have a good laugh at it

My daughters been through the EMO stage. Cutting your wrists isn't about the clothes you wear
She is now into Screamo which is hideous.

I'm with Soapy... I give out a coupl of warnings when it gets to the arguments I don't do it. I don't cut the cables, I just take them away  But I have womans logic

A PC ban works a treat for 13 Y/O demon. Ps2 ban for 10 Y/O. As for Flynn he's at thestage where speaking gruffly works a treat, ahhhhh remember the good old days

Good advice Hev and Soapy. No arguing, your the parent and what you say goes - end of! My eldest 2 sons were 27 when they left home to get married. In their early 20s I begged them to divorce me but they said "No chance." My youngest son was 27 also when he left home and the 3rd is still here. He gets the sh*ts with me at times but tough, it's my house and if he doesn't like it he can move. Set your rules and stick to them. In the long run they'll thank you for it. :D

Your two will be fine .Your eldest has some fantastic qualities :yes:she is bubbly funny & loyal, and you are an amazing mum whatever you think .Being a mum is a thankless task and sometimes you need your friends to tell you that you are doing a brilliant job :flowers:

I think Talluah is great in fact I was only singing her praises a short while ago to a friend. she is polite and courteous to outsiders - you should be proud of that - so what if she's a cow to you -you're her mother.

lol, thanks for posting this thread ohippy, given me some things to think about.
lucy is 10 going on 16 ... but she often acts like a 7 yr old cos she is around he little brothers all the time.... when they all get together i call em my triplets

ive stood my ground with stuff in the bedroom; mal wanted to get them a tv/dvd but ive said no - caused a fair few arguements! ive also said no to any games cos all they do is argue over whos turn it is, what they are playing, names start getting called and a riot ensues - so no more games (they had some time with mals old play station, but ^ happened so we took it off em). they have a computer in thier room, but it doesnt connect to the internet, and i dont let lucy have a mobile phone (although she seems to have acquired one from somewhere and says she just plays games on it)

wish i could lock em up til they were 30 ...

ive noticed that when some arguement is going on, if i ignore it then it does tend to fizzle out ... what drives me insane is when you hear them kicking off and then a loud ''MOM!!!!!'' is shouted ... i could batter em!!!

will remember the door thing soapy ...

My perfect teenager went & proved she is a total brat,if it makes anyone feel any better :ooer: She asked if she could join a discussion forum that i felt was not reallythe hang out of teenage girls & said no.Once in a while check her email (never had any call to & never told her)and there is a message from the forum with a pm from some guy (could be a kid but who knows). So emailed them saying she is a child & to remove her (no word back from them) Matt was all for screaming & shouting ,but i didnt say a word & when she asked why she was barred from the computer ,i told her i was dissapointed . ,used to beg my dad to smack me ,or punish me ,but he would just be dissapointed when i was a kid,was a killer and works on her too
