:o Alex didn't even think to tell me about it until after I heard it on the radio  He said that they'd all been in lockdown just after the first period. Thought I might be an annoying mother and ring to find out if this child is being expelled. |

I'm expecting the police to get some flak for tasering a 13 year old, but the kid evidently had a knife to a teacher's throat so police shot the taser spikes into the kid as a warning first and then didn't need to turn on the electric current as he then dropped the knives. Can't imagine what on earth can have set off a new Year 8 student right at the start of a new school :dunno: |

I often think the media coverage of recent high school shootings in the US give people ideas. I know this is a racist question but do you know if the child was indigenous? It's not fair to judge but i know most of the reports I've heard where kids have gone to school armed thats been the case. |

Seems to have been a bit of trouble around the schools lately, Comet Bay the other week and H`s school was locked down too the same week because police closed off the road whilst some guy was arrested (he lived over the road from the school) apparently he had a gun but how true that was I don`t know as I`ve heard nothing on the news or in the newspaper about it. Apparently police had to taser his dog as it kept attacking them. |

So true Snappy about it happening anywhere. It's a shame for the school because their reputation really has been rising of late and I've been more than happy with Alex's schooling there and I'd hate for all the hard work the school has done to build a well behaved, safe learning environment to be spoiled by one incident. The school came down very hard last year on wearing the correct uniform and that in itself seems to have made a big difference, it shows when you go to the local shops where the kids drop into before/after school. I would think that both the school and the police managed to respond very quickly and efficiently yesterday seeing as the pupil was stopped in the same area of the school where he first came to their attention and the other pupils never felt that they were in any danger. They were all instructed immediately by their class teachers to remain in their classes thereby minimising any risks to any other students. |
