OMG I can hardly believe it, after 5 months of crap, the pool guys turned up this morning unannounced and did the quartzite coating for the pool. The are coming back tomorrow to acid wash it and then start filling it straight away.

I am so excited, its been a nightmare but the end is in sight. Now all we have to do is concrete and pave around it and make the garden look nice again.

Hopefully by the time the kids get home from school tomorrow it will have started to be filled, so I am going to leave it as a surprise for them.

Looks great Mel. Hopefully you will get some sunshine soon so you can use it.

Maybe you should buy Jason a lawn mower for his birthday to help keep the garden tidy.

Lol, he has got a lawnmower and a strimmer thingy, but with all the rain the garden has become a jungle, remember we even have wild watermelons growing. We are going to concrete and pave around the pool area, and level and turf the remaining garden, but its too muddy at the moment to do anything.

And Lynn, we will be swimming straight away, as even with all the rain, its still very warm

Oooo Mel that looks amazing  I like the band of tiles are they black or a very dark navy?

The tiles are black and the pebblecrete stuff is supposedly a champagne colour. It was Jason's choice, as I was not too bothered about having the tile band (it added an extra $1000) to the cost, but it does look nice now its done.

I knew I should not have got too excited, because the pool guys have not turned up this morning to finish

Well they turned up this afternoon to acid wash the pebble stuff and straight afterwards started filling with a hose. We are allowed to fill the pool from our mains water as we filled in a statutory declaration for the local council ages ago, stating what water saving measures we would put in place (has to be at least four)!

Anyway while I am typing this the pool is filling, it is probably about a quarter filled at the moment. I estimate it will probably be completely filled by lunchtime tomorrow.

Dreading our next water bill though

Its great, I had a sneaky swim in it by myself before kids got home, and then this afternoon we all had a swim in it. Just need to sort out the paving around it now and it will be even nicer

I cant believe that I actually have a swimming pool

Well the pool was all set up and ready for the blue skies, sunshine and hot weather that has finally arrived. It lasted for five days of fun and then the pump died this morning!!!!!

No idea whats happened to it, just wont work. We did everything right, ran the pump for eight hours a day, cleaned the filter, tested the water etc, added correct chemicals - and this bloody pool pump (which we were talked into paying extra for a supposedly top of the range super model)!!!!!! just stopped working! I could scream, actually I have been most of the day.

I left such an abusive message on the pool companies answer machine, I dont think they will call me back, but however I am on a mission and will be calling them again first thing tomorrow, coz if its not sorted out soon the water will turn green :(
