do you folks in aus ever get to see them? its a bbc prog, been really good this time round; they have shown the difficult side to emigrating rather than the :rosetints: view the last few series have given. also showed how the house prices are rocketing too ... which speaking to colleagues really shattered thier illusions about a move to aus being cheap cos thier £100k wouldnt go as far as they thought  it still surprises me that people have this view that aus is cheap cheap cheap - they think you can buy 5 bed mansions with a pool for about £50k!!

Been lots about perth and melbourne, only 2 or 3 each about qld and adelaide though. have to say when pacific pines was on we were scanninng the horizon for soapy

do aus tv do a kind of reverse show? 'wanted in the uk'?? when i lived in london the brits were outnumbered by aussies and kiwis ... mostly young people working over here for a couple of years, earning money to travel more ... happy days

Ah, they are just as annoying as I remember them Sue.

Keep showing people houses that are not suitable to their lifestyle or pockets.

Couple in Perth worked out they could afford $530k so they show them a house up for sale at $1.2 million.

Guy was a keen gardner so they show him houses with no garden.

I mean, it's just crap and some of the facts and figures they come out with are a joke.

Another stupid thing is the selection of city, beach or country. For Cairns they were just a few minutes away from each other and did not represent the criteria being claimed.

Made me really cringe when a lady was offered a job at the equivalent of GBP 16k.
She was horrified as expected to earn about GBP 40k. Then it came out she was only earning GBP 15k in the UK. Friggin nutcase

Anyway as you can tell I am not impressed. I think the government must be sponsoring the show nowadays to try to stem the skills and cash exodus by trying to put people off.

aparantly one they did in Perth was Mindarie as town (where my kids go to school) and the country one was in Butler..... where i live.... i can get the kids to school in 3 minutes if i catch the 1 set of traffic lights between here and there!! These programs seem to rely on people not knowing any better.

before we came out they showed a stunning, cheap house in Armadale, now I'm here, I know why it was so cheap :omg:

may well be !! Although prices have dropped quite a bit you can now get houses where I live (4 x2) for under $400k :omg:

There was a completition on the radio a while ago for people to vote for the worst suburb of Perth - Armadale won !!

I have to say though, that the worst suburbs here are paradise compared to the worst estates in UK, imho
