Not sure what we'll be up to today, not a lot probably. We were going to go on a reef cruise but we're saving that for tomorrow as less wind, so probably just chilling out around our apartment. |

Probably going up to the city later this afternoon. I'm told that you're supposed to get there early but it's too hot to be out in the sun for too long so I think we'll risk it later to see how it goes. They is lots of airplane entertainment over the river before the fireworks this evening. The atmosphere is meant to be great with the world's largest flag dragged along behind a plane, everyone standing and singing the national anthem and then the fireworks start. The Australians are so proud of their country and just being Australian :ozflag: |

I like the way they are so proud of their country. I've always thought that it's one of the major problems with the UK. People are embarrassed rather proud to be British and therefore go round knocking it all the time and thus it continues like a chicken and egg scenario. |

We had a great day. Had a nice quiet mooch in the morning then jumped on the new train up to Perth where we settled on the foreshore, watched the stuff going on in the water (dingy racing, slalom, waterskiiers etc) and all teh stuff going on up in the air (parachuters, jet planes, aerobatics etc) before watching the fireworks. We had loads of Aussie kids walking past wishing us all Happy Australia day. The atmosphere was great, the train journey easy and cheap, and there was no trouble
