Pauline had decided to take two weeks off at the beginning of October because we had planned to visit my brother in Christchurch. He called a couple of weeks before to tell us he was visiting us in January. So we thought there was no point in going to see him. Friends of ours (Mr & Mrs flowerofscotland) had booked a weekend away in Yamba NSW. It was one of those Big 4 camp sites. They mentioned it to us while have a few drinkipoos one night, and when they found out we had decided not to go to NZ, invited us along. They have two young kids who are just perfect so we knew we would have a great time. The night before Mr FOS called to say he was heading for the bottle shop to “cargo up” and picked me up on the way there. We found it hard enough getting the boot shut with all the booze. I don’t know how we were going to fit anything else in the next day. Yamba is roughly about 3 hours drive away so we decided to head off about 10 am. Pauline and I had never seen Byron Bay so we stopped off on the way down. Nice wee place Byron, but it was busy! We took loads of photos here, but the best ones are the photos with the kids in them, so I wont be posting them. Heres a few for you though. Some other photos on the way down Posted Image Posted Image I just love Crossing Over The Clarence River and some of the sights are just great. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image As you pass over the bridge you come to a T junction. Left to McLean and Right to Yamba. We turned right and were about ten mins from the resort. Posted Image |

Because we stopped at Byron it took us a bit longer to get there. We arrived at 2 pm. We had a cabin each right next to each other. The cabins were just perfect, they had thought of everything right down to tin foil lol. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image We decided to explore the place just after arriving. Posted Image Posted Image it has a pool, spa, big jumpy thing, go carts (pedal), boat ramp, a wee shop, games room, auch theres loads to do have a wee gander at the link to the resort. |

After we had a quick walk round we decided to head off into Yamba. It reminded me of Maroubra in Sydney. We all really liked Yamba. We even found a shop named after Mr FOS and his twin Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image We did a bit of shopping while Mr FOS went for more booze! (He claimed it was back up, I’m sure he was trying to drown us with it)lol |

We headed back to the resort and I started the cooking. They supply a little leccy BBQ to use in each cabin. The wee thing was pure magic! After the food was out of the way the race was on to see who could get pished first. Im sure we all won. Posted Image I must have been pished to be doing this in this photo Posted Image We only had to stagger ten yard to our cabin when we left. Well, Pauline had to carry me lol The next day the kids got up early and headed off to the pool. The soon came back as the pool was freezing. So we had a wee breakfast. Posted Image |

The kids went off and hired the go carts for a while, but some nutter go cart jacked one of them as they passed. Posted Image Posted Image We were told later that the car was off the road for a week for repairs lol When the girls got back we headed off to McLean for the day. Some of you might have read my other thread on this town. It’s a wee Scottish town in NSW. Everything about the place is Scottish but the people lol. Heres a few photos of the place for ya. After we got back to the resort the ladies decided to go for a nap. Mr FOS and I took the girls fishing. Sorry no photos of the fishing because the kids are in them. We didn’t catch anything anyway. Too many flies and it was far too windy for me to fly fish. I did walk into a huge think branch though and now suffer from a bout of Black Ear My left one Posted Image We did see a deed kangaroo in the water Posted Image |

When we got back the ladies had started dinner, so we tucked in and started on the booze again. Pauline and I woke up for the second morning to Mr FOS cooking our Scottish breakfast. It’s a great way to start the day! We set off for home about 10 am and had decided to head for Lismore. When we started really thinking of moving to Australia Lismore was one of the first places we looked at. I love the old building and couldn’t resist some more photos. Posted Image This building reminded me of the old Glasgow picture hall that we used to go to as a kid. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image |

I loved this sign Posted Image we decided to stop off at Nimbin. Its meant to be the hippy capital. We walked about a hundred yards and offered drugs three times. I just didn’t like the feel of the place. To me it looked full of misfits. I didn’t see a real hippy anywhere! Nimbin Posted Image Posted Image To be honest I couldn’t get out of the place quick enough. |

On the road home we crossed a few of these Posted Image And saw some lovely spots by the river (think it was the Tweed) Posted Image Then we passed through what we thought should be another Scottish town. All the it needed was the words “The Noo” added to the end of the sign. Posted Image We arrived home at 4 pm shattered. I don’t know why I was shatter Mr FOS did all the driving. Thanks guys for a FANTASTIC weekend! |
