How are they doing? They seem to be lying very low or have they just got a great life now? :) |

They're in Cairns, we'll be staying in an apartment in the city. We've been living on such a tight budget and with Rachel working it's been hard to get out of the habit and after just one month we had enough to pay for the holiday. The Rooksies are doing well and laying low. Jac is at university training to become a teacher. |

Same here once Malc starts back at his old engineering firm in a week's time  Spoke to my dad on the webcam yesterday and told him we might not get our ceremony on Aus Day... he said they wont come now. Spoilt what was a lovely day up until that point... :( |

Why won't they come and visit just because you may not be having your ceremony ? Surely they want to see you all more than that or did he mean that they would come over instead when you do get your ceremony ? |

i think they were going to come out then mainly for the ceremony but also of course to see us, but they'd rather come when it is cooler as mum doesnt like the heat.... i dunno, bit p'd as they said they'd come whatever... but I feel guilty about expecting to come all this way, and it's quite expensive in Jan too. We'll see, maybe my mum will still want to come... they will probably come later in the year anyway... i had been really looking forward to it though cos it's not long is it? :ooer: |

oh right. Jan is very hot for them though. My dad is on about coming out then for the school hols but it really would be too hot for him and we wouldn't be able to do much. As long as they're still coming over, that's the main thing, when is just a mere detail :flowers: |

I think everyone is getting a bit hung up on the ceremony thing, i can only comment on ours but there were 150 people all being done on the same night, we were called up in batches of 10 to say our bit (all at the same time) then a quick word from the mayor, a wee sing song of the national anthem and then through the house for a cup of tea and a party pie. Yes it's a good feeling, yes it's something to remember but it's not a personal moment like a wedding or christening there are just way too many people for that. Now.... the ceremonial burning of the British passport afterwards is a different matter altogether  |

I can't see the attraction of the ceremony not something I'm looking forward to at all, in fact it's the kind of occasion I hate. |
