It's been a bit quiet around here lately, so I thought I'd do a roll call and ask everyone to give us a brief (or long ;) ) update on what they're up to. I'll start us off: I've been freezing me tits orf on the back deck, huddled in a doonah in the evenings to try and keep warm. :irked: Sometimes I give up and go inside and just read though. :cold: Work's been slow, but is still coming in in dribs and drabs. I'm thinking of advertising for more bookkeeping (not my first choice of things to do!) in the local rag. Mebbe that'd boost the work front a bit. :dunno: We bought a car from our neighbours the other day; an old Toyota Corona station wagon, so at least have a modicum more freedom now. In the last month or so, I've had the pleasure of meeting up with Sue and family, and Mel and hubby. Both were great times and I look forward to seeing them again. Not a lot else has changed, so there you have it from me. How's things with you? |

Well I'm still here. Working full-time now so only get to go surfing in the evenings and at weekends. Work is going well now, I'm enjoying my job and the people are nice to each other. My only grumble is that my duties keep increasing due to the fact that I don't have a job description as it was a new role so the latest duty is minute taking which I loathe. And now they realise that I'm good at it as well so they want me to do the minutes of all their meetings. Aaaarrrgggghhh. :( I wasn't employed as a secretary either! Oh well, I'm being paid well so can't moan about that. I'm looking forward to the visit of my brother and his family in October so we've now got to get the house ready for their arrival. So I'm looking to get the ducted refrigerated air-conditioning finally installed, pergola blinds and lights all before they arrive. Jon is having a foot operation this afternoon so he has to have his feet up for 4 days now. I think I've got my work cut out for me this weekend. That's it really. Enjoying the facebook thingy - its quite fun! Michelle |

Although I'm still medically grounded, we have decided to put in for The Interdependant Partner Visa in about a weeks time. technically i can apply for residency in my own right as with the current visa I ahve been resident here for 2 years, but we will go with the the Partner Visa. Meanwhile back in the UK the paperwork is about to go before the Courts to get my Divorce from the daughter of satan.( Don't ask!!!, we all make mistakes, anyhow I've not seen her in 6 years) Once we have that Geoff and I will apply to the British High Commission , here in Melbourne, to perform our UK marriage, which of course will give Geoff UK Citizenship, not that we will ever live in the UK. Once the Partner Visa is submitted I will get a Tax File No, and so can look for work. I am going to try to get a job on the railways, either Aus freight, or National Pacific. I'll keep you posted. Apart from that, health is reasonable, blood counts are all good, well as good as can be expected. had a few problems with the Ongoing DVT, mainly due to bad circulation in my leg. So life is ticking over, and being a house husband ( sort of) I've been discovering the joys of cooking! and housework too, which is only fair as his lordship is working full time. Apart from that it's just same shit , different day! |

I am around but been really busy sorting things out for moving. My parents were also here and went home yesterday. I had lots of things planned for today including lunch with Mrs Bordy, but was struck down with a horrible gastro bug in the early hours of the morning. I still dont feel 100%.
 I will be busy packing and clearing the house for the next few weeks as we actually leave Melbourne on 31st July. We are going to Mount Buller for four nights for skiing, and then on to Canberra for two nights, then Newcastle for one night and Coffs Harbour for one night, before arriving in Brisbane on 8th August for settlement on our house there. Our furniture arrives on 9th Aug and the animals arrive on the 10th. It sounds nice and simple when I type it all out, but I am very stressed and could really do without working and being ill at the moment  |

Counting the days here until our two weeks break up in Port Douglas. As Melibeam said her & Mrs B were supposed to be doing lunch today so Mrs B was sorry to miss that. We went to see Harry Potter this afternoon on gold class tickets we got 14 months ago. Going to see young Flynn for an hour tomorrow as only seen him once since he came back from UK. Off to the footy tomorrow night at Telstra Dome to see my beloved Bombers take on the Bulldogs. Roll on Friday 27th July though & sunshine here we come. :ecstatic: |

being a lazy bugger im just gonna cut and paste an email i sent my bezzy mate
:D ''.. life has been so hectic since we got back i havent had time to do much really! 3 days after we got back my mum was readmitted to hospital and was only discharged last sunday, so the last 2 2weeks has been spent running around after her; now she is home it hastn changed much !! it was lucys birthday yesterday and she had a party, most of mals family came for tea so the last 5 days have gone past in a kind of blur! as for moving out to aus, well mal is really keen; we need to do it before next autumn as lucy is due to change schools next summer so it would be unfair to expect her to start at comprehensive then have to move schools again. once i have got sorted out we will start on the tra (famous last words) and get the visa applied for ... had a long chat with my brother too, and he would get mum moved over to his side of town (if she wanted) so he could be nearby for her. she is still waiting for a cardiac surgeon to review her re heart surgery, so im not sure i could go if she were still alive. as i said she has been in hospital - she had a rectal bleed so had to have loads of tests, but they think it was down to the warfarin she takes or the dodgy heart valve. im back to taking her to her blood tests every week and shopping etc!! we also need to get some money together ... lol :D'' thats about it :D |

My daily life is as follows Mon: Leave house at 7.30am for Alex's early school start then straight to work. Finish work in time to collect Alex from school, go to haircuts/dentists/Bunnings/whatever then home by 4ish. Walk dogs, bring washing in and put away, see to dinner clear up. (daily driving 90 mins) All fine Tues: Leave house at 7.30am for Alex's early school start then straight to work. Finish in time to collect Alex from school, home eat and out again in 45 minutes to take him to his Uni course, run any errands, pick him up then take him to basketball training home by 7pm. Walk dogs, bring washing in, see to dinner, clear up. (daily driving 100 mins) Not too bad Wed: Leave house at 7.50 to drop Alex at school then straight to work. Finish in time to collect Alex from school. Run home, get washing in, walk dogs, take Alex to soccer training. Food shop while he's there, pick him up, get home about 7pm. See to dinner, clear up. (daily driving 135 mins) Still just about on top of things, though the ironing is piling up. Thurs: Leave house at 6.50 for Alex's even earlier school start, rush home walk dogs, hang washing out, go to work. Finish in time to collect Alex from school. Home, get washing in, get on internet and pay some bills/ have a quick tidy, see to dinner, rush out to basketball game home by about 9pm. Clear up dinner dishes. (daily driving 150 mins) Bloody knackered now. Fri: Leave house at 7.50 to drop Alex at school then straight to work. Finish at lunch time, do the food shopping, bring it home and put in the freezer, then straight out the door again to collect Alex. Come home, walk dogs, prepare dinner (if they're bloody lucky) take Alex to soccer training, try and call in on friends who are complaining about not seeing me, pick up from soccer, home by 7pm. Throw a crappy dinner at them then clear away. (daily driving 135 mins) Saturday do house work. See friends in the evening. Sunday go to soccer game, cook a roast dinner, do gardening. I am working (to all intents and purposes) full time, running Alex around here there and everywhere 4 nights a week, my average day is going out around 7.30am and not getting home properly until 7pm and then on top of all that the housework needs doing. My week off this week so far...... Monday, take poorly dog to the vet and hope it's not a cancerous tumour like she thinks it might be. Tuesday, impromptu coffee meet at the foreshore  Down to the pub in the evening  Wednesday, impromptu coffee at a friend's house  See Harry Potter in the evening  Thursday, hubby home for the day. Start painting the bedroom  Friday, meet with Gobby and Heather at Mandurah  Take Alex to soccer training, go round to friends, get back and have a look on here with a glass of wine  |

Well I've been in and out of the forum as you know. I've noticed it was quiet so I hopped off elsewhere
 I've been on friends reunited catching up with a couple of boys I haven't seen since I was 10 or 11 - they would be old boys now! :P One of them sent me a school photo which some of you are closely examining for little ole me. He also sent a photo of himself now and it's uncanny how he looks exactly like he did then only with grey hair!!! I can see the little boy in the man. He was always good at art so we are talking about that plus trying to figure out who is who in the school pic. The other guy is emailing me too and I'm awaiting current pics from him, he was one of my real friends. It is absolutely great catching up with them, I have often wondered what happened, I'm reaching that nostalgic age, which I've mentioned before. Work (the new job in the candle place) has been hectic and I am really enjoying it now. I nearly strangled the leading hand in the factory this week. Lucky for him I'm short and couldn't quite reach. My boss has employed a factory manager to start Monday and I'm the only one that knows this, we can't wait to see the other guy's face when we spring that little surprise. He is quite subversive and has been working against us. Now he can either shape up or ship out cos by all accounts the new guy isn't the type to take any sh!t. We are launching a new range and getting ready for a trade show in August so I have been helping with editing and proofreading the newsletter. Most nights I get home quite late and don't have much time to be on here but I enjoy popping in to catch up even if I just lurk and don't post. So I'm still around folks, but life gets in the way, you know... |

I pop in most days for a couple of minutes and catch up with the new thread titles - but that's pretty much it at the moment. Leave home at 7:20 and get back around 6:30. Daily drive pretty much on a par with Anne at around 2 hours. If only I could drive faster....I'd get to spend less time in the car! Oh - also trying to regain top spot in the quizzes. |

Been a busy few weeks. 2 Pom salesguys have left our company and that just leaves one. In his wisdom he peees off to Europe for 3 weeks and then takes a weeks holiday. I am left in the office doing my own job and covering for 3 missing salesguys. On top of that it's the end of our financial year which always generates extra work with tight deadlines and one of the head honchos from Sydney decides this is a good time to come and have a chat about installing some systems  Yep, work has been tough and tiring. Two of the family have been quite ill with this fluey bug thing. Had electrician in sorting some extra fans and sockets. Landscaper came to deal with an easement at the rear of the house that was an eyesore and difficult to maintain. Spent a full day helping a family do a house move. Helped two lots of expats with various settling in things. You know the sort of stuff. Finding a car etc etc. Met a family that were up from Sydney on a weeks holiday. Still doing a lot of PM stuff to help people headed out this way. Mainly people bound for Cairns but also some specific visa advice. Did manage to pinch one weekend day to get the lawns mowed. Had the car accident this week which has led to a bit of running around and phonecalls. So this weekend I'm looking forward to doing nowt but I doubt I get away with that. :P Yep, it's been a busy time of it. |

Im working full time in Central London. The journey is hard as it involves a train and two tube trains and it has screwed up my asthma with the pollution and stuff. But the pay isn't bad and although the job is tedious/boring, the people are very nice. Ive joined a gym and go three times a week and have yoga classes straight afterwards. The yoga part concerned Abdel as you can fart with some of the moves and he feels like I need no encouragement in that department. Saturdays I go car booting and then see my little dog who lives with my friend and Sundays is a gym/yoga day. Hopefully I can shift some weight before I move to Oz. Which brings me to the magic word 'visa'. I had a nice email from The Lombard yesterday just saying that is all we are waiting for kind of thing with some humour included! :yu: And I have been prone to having 'Bad Mum Moments' as I call them where all of a sudden I am having stark reminders of her and have given to convincing myself that certain people are my Mum and I even stare at them. I have been getting very tearful and bursting into tears at the thought of leaving my Dad and my close friends and rehoming Gordon. Suddenly everything in my flat is becoming so important to me and even the man who sells me my ticket in the morning for my train. :blushing: Basically when I am not working or commuting, when I am not in the gym or car booting or visiting Rema, I have my emotional catch up moments where I think 'what the hell am I doing and how am I going to do it'. So I shall try and concentrate on my forthcoming Namibian holiday and my 40th birthday in August and hope the emotional moments become few and far between. Good job I am busy really because the old visa rollercoaster is something I never thought would be so intense and painful and being busy kind of keeps it in check. If you know what I mean. |

Doing the usual domestic stuff.... Last week had Steph's leavers play (3 days), Jason and the golden fleece, made an evening dress for a 5ft 11 yr old and chauffuered her to the "prom" for leaving primary school. This week various end of term stuff, took a car ful of kids to see Harry Potter. Today had sobbing children as they broke up for Summer with Steph teacher taking early retirement and Toby's moving to pastures new. Along side this take 3 x 10 hour days with 25-40 minute commute either side and a half day and I guess I too am often reading but not posting as the brain doesn't always work too well by 10pm! Lost my momentum now .....just to illustrate the point ZZZZzzzzzzz |

I'm here still
:D Had a nightmare with the computer hence postings slowed down and house was sparkling now back online trying to catch up on all the forums house now a shit hole  But mostly back to work very hectic with lots of meetings and moving into my new office which is lovely and turning into a student drop in centre for natters which is great but little work is being done, so now I'm having to bring work home with me as well. On top of that the house is in full swing and during the holidays I had heaps of running around to do ordering materials and getting in quotes. I thought last monday we were meant to have 5 carpenters but only 2 turned up  so all my running aroudn was a bit pointless in the holidays  Now the site is full of materials and hopefully will be full of carpenters on Monday to do something with it all. Been into the bank to start off my mortgage as well so paperwork had to be sorted for that one as well. I will update new pictures and story in full on the house build thread soon I promise :) Kids holidays was a nightmare as the girls gave me hell (doing far too many boring things for them from the house thing) even to the point of finding clumps of hair where they had fights. Been heaps of shouting and threatening going on. Got a new kitten as it turned up on my doorstep the other week with sister and finally found the mother so went off again, only to turn up again and again, last time with no sister or mother anywhere so felt sorry for the little thing freezing and took her in. Now up to my eyes in cat shit everywhere - not good in a stinking pig sty of a house anyway! Been out partying hard as well recently as it seems to just go that way every now and then. Went out with a couple of girl friends for a meal which was lovely and great for a natter then off to the pub to be blasted by our friends band which played one of my favourite songs at the moment by Reel Big Fish and not forgetting Joker and the Thief which I bopped till I dropped. Although I did get an early night as I was knackered and left after their 2nd set still very sober (surprisngly!) Totally shattered at the moment and felling as though I'm juggling far to many balls waiting for one to drop but now need to get into town to go and buy some varnish as I have 650 metres of louvre blades that need to be varnished and sanded this weekend, plus tidy up the building site plus try and catch up on the pig sty we call home  |

Oh I've been in NSW for a week - sorry I never got the chance to see you TC but I never got into Sydney myself. My friend lives in Mona Vale on the northernn beaches and we had a great time even if the weather did play up a bit. We went to an old farm house in Dooralong for a few days - a friend of my mates who is in NZ for a couple of years. Had a great time chilling out and drinking plenty of wine. Luke managed to get a leech on his leg - err yuck - luckily it never took hold properly and he managed to get it off before it latched on! Plenty of wallabies hopping about the place, found a wombats den - didnt' see the womabts though. Heard plenty of bell birds have to admit after a few hours of them i was asking the music to be changed! Plenty of kookaburras around. my boys loved it. We also shopped, went bowling, shopped and also saw Disney on ice at the Acer stadium. We had a great week. |
