I watched Keepin Mum last night (Rowan Atkinson & Maggie Smith) it was a nice wee film, got me thinking about my favourite films. I really enjoy THe Great OUtdoors with John Candy and the first Lethal Weapon film (I can watch them again & again).For a weepy it has to Steel Magnolias or Beaches and my classic would be The Wizard of Oz. What about about you - what`s your favourite?

I'm not a movie-goer and am usually the last (if at all) to see any movie. :blink: However, I do love a good 'funny'. My fave, over the years, would have to be The Party with Peter Sellars - I spent most of that film with aching sides and tears running down my face! :ooer:

Other good movies, which come to mind, are:

  • The Castle;
  • The Dish;
  • Gone With The Wind (made my uncle cry which made me laugh! :lol: )
  • A pommy one made for TV which I can never remember the name of (starred Thora Hird and Pete Postlethwaite) was bloody hilarious!
  • Brassed Off;
  • Golden Eye (007) for the stunts which were very tongue in cheek;
  • The Italian Job (the original with Michael Caine);
  • One Flew Over A Cuckoo's Nest; :more:
  • Shawshank Redemption was good;
  • Silence of the Lambs;
  • The Great Escape;
  • Close Encounters of the Third Kind (although the book was waaayyyy better);
  • Romancing the Stone;
  • Sunshine would have to be the biggest tear-jerker :cry:
  • Educating Rita;
  • The Sound of Music;
  • The King and I;
  • The Boys from Brazil;
  • Zulu;
  • Truly, Madly, Deeply (absolutely brilliant acting!);
  • The Man From Snowy River;
  • Rain Man;
  • Paint Your Wagon;
  • Thelma and Louise :cry:
  • To Catch A Thief;
  • Four Weddings and a Funeral;
  • The Full Monty;
  • The Pink Panther movies;
  • See No Evil, Hear No Evil;
  • Most of the Monty Python stuff :rolleyes:
Sugar ... got a bit carried away there, sorry. :blink: :whistle:

Ooooo I just love the all action movies.

Arnie was number one for me but before that I used to like Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson films. Cosner's offerings were good too. Also the Alien trilogy.

LOTR was a favourite read of mine but the films although reasonable were let down by very poor casting I thought.

Actually the films I've watched more than any other are:
Enter the Dragon
The Great Escape
Zulu

:rolleyes:

Indeed so. :P

The first film I ever saw was the tale of two dogs and a cat trying to make there way home to their family across Canada or USA.
What was it's name ?
The Great Adventure or something.

Second film I ever remember seeing was Born Free........and that left a lasting impression on me :wink:

Bond's Beaut Bombshell

All time favourites: The Life of Brian and The Deerhunter

Close behind Clint's spagetti westerns, The Shawshank Redemption, Dirty Dancing, the Lethal Weapons,

Absolutely hate: Rocky's 1 - 900, anything with Gene Wilder - I don't care what people say, he is so not funny, Titanic and Gone With the Wind are two of the crappiest films ever.

There was a film I saw on a Sunday evening donkey's years ago - I must have been about 13 :whistle: and I can't remember the name but it was about some people who lived in a huge house right next to a rail track in America. It was really good but I can't remember much about it. I'm sure there was a yellow front door - how weird is that, I've never forgotten the film - just the name :lol:

Just a few favs there PR! :lol:

My all time fav is True Romance.

Thelma and Louise is wonderfully sad and has a line that I live by ... "You get what you settle for"

I loved War of the Worlds but have watched it too many times now and killed off the fear factor.

Recently, and I recommend everyone to watch it because it is BRILLIANT, I watched 300... I can't stress what a fanbloodytastic film it is. :yes:

My faves are:

Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Dirty Dancing
Muriel's Wedding

Benny & Joon is a nice film too...
