http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_y...ire/6429569.stm caused quite an uproar around here ... not to mention a parking nightmare with the media's vans  the film is quite shocking ... and they are questioning whether the officer used 'reasonable force' to subdue the woman. thing is, how reasonable in any situation is a fit, tough bloke punching a drunk woman? opinion seems split - most people agree it wasnt racial despite what the victim claims, but there are 2 camps - the policeman was only doing his job, or that he used unreasonable force to do his job. the victims father is a mental health worker, and as he said if he used that much force to subdue a patient who was attacking him he would be sacked. me? i think that the policeman acted in a spontaneous manner, but used unreasonable force to subdue her - if she was that drunk and that agressive then he should have stood back ... she claims she was that drunk she cant remember what happened so she cant have been that co-ordinated to require should aggressive restraint. what does everyone else think? |
