i usually lather my kids in a high factor sun cream here in the uk and will do the same when we are out in aus in may and june.
thing is, what do i need to do about sunglasses for them? bearing in mind we are heading up to brisbane for the last 10 days, am i best waiting til we get out there to get sunglasses for the kids or will the ones i buy in the uk be ok?
I asked in boots the other day and the dopy sales woman didnt know ... and i couldnt be arsed to wait while she went to find some other assistant to ask
sorry, i know this will turn out to have an obvious answer but i want to make sure their eyes are protected too.

thanking you ta  :D :flowers:

I'd wait and get them here. I think the quality is better - cut out more UVA and B. Also there are stacks of styles and colours for the kids - and the big kids. Unlike, of obviously reasons, the choice in the UK.

Me three!

Buy 'em here, along with any suncreams, etc. Much cheaper.

I'd agree too, plus you can get them really cool sunhats here (which they should be wearing anyway!) and that will help keep the sun out their eyes if they don't want glasses.

Anne's right my two will wear hats but sunglasses start off as a novelity then they get chucked aside and broken within minutes so no matter how cheap they are here they are still an expensive and it drives my bonkers

Either get a wide brim hat or one with a neck flap  Just thought I'd add that my two have one that has a tie under their chin great for when they are swimming also the material is the sort that dries out very quickly not the heavy material type. They are also UV protective

Being awkward I'm going to say that you need to get them to wear sunglasses even if they wear a hat as the hat gives no UV protection to the eyes.

Best sunglasses my son ever had were from decathalon sports, they are a flexible plastic with max UV protection and were sold as ski sunglasses so they wrap around. They came with an optional sports strap and as soon as the sun is out he lives in them, we got them when he was 6 and at 9 he still loves to wear them. We saw loadds in Oz but we found nothing to beat them. We bought 2 pairs for Steph in Oz, the first broke after 2 days, the others are OK but she prefers Tobys.

Sainsburys have great rashies at the moment in sets with shorts for about £10, we came back with some from Oz but the tops alone were A$25 - 30, but then being slightly older than your children mine are getting more picky!

Rashies are generally tops but can refer to swim shorts too. They are made of swimwear fabric and have built in sun protection so that you don't have to wear sunscreen where the clothes are they usually have a protection factor of 40 or 50.

They are called rashies because they were originally designed to go under wet suits to prevent the wearer getting chaffed and therefore getting a rash.

Hope that clears it up Sue

My lot are great at wearing rashies, they never have to be told to they just do it (unlike cleaning their teeth  ) but they wont wear sunnies i think they just get in the way when they are playing.

I did toy with getting Orlanda a pair of those baby sunnies with the elastic back (a bit like swimming goggles) i tried them on her and she looked like she was about to go up in a gypsie moth....... very biggles like.
