There's a biggie at Hartleys crocodile farm.
They have a double door set up to the bird sanctuary and it lives on the fence between the doors.

I think I've seen more Golden Orbs than any of the other big ones.

Oh, but I just remembered I've seen a few Bark ones.....or was it Woof  :P

Are the double doors just for the spider :o

It's quite funny really cos hardly anyone notices it.

You go in the first door and your eye is taken by the sign which says something like please don't disturb our spider.

What spider ? Oh, that one :hide:

Well that place is now on my list of places not to visit

Yup, here it is.

The spider I came across did not look like that, it was more brown and black stripes on legs and back, not yellow, and had a fatter body and was probably about 6 to 8 cms in diameter. Cant say I noticed its bum :P Hope I dont find any more in the house. :(

Bordy, when I get to Brisbane, I am going to have house sprayed with industrial strength chemicals twice a year. I dont mind spiders and other wildlife outdoors, but I cant cope with them inside.

Off to bed now, but will be checking thoroughly under bed and doona before I can sleep

All spiders make my skin crawl, even that black cartoon one!

When we first came to Sydney I used to strip all the beds (then remake them)before I'd get in. The Funnel web was all around our area, and a small child had been killed by one just recently. The anti venim was only just being discovered/tested, and there wasn't a lot of it around then.

I treat all spiders the same, kill them before they try to kill me  If they want to live they need to stay out of my house.

The Mortein Surface Spray (black and gold can) is the best invention. I spray it all around doors and windows, and often sweep up dead cockroaches and spiders that have dared to walk across it. It's the best - kills 'em so quickly too.

This is one of those weird but true stories that happened to us whilst travelling around and can only happen in Oz  We go out on a reef trip and on the way back to the caravan park we get chatting to this young but some what cocky young lad who starts saying that he has a van full of creatures from snakes, spiders, aligators to stick insects and lizards...we think he is just having a laugh but when we got back he then showed us all his collection :o

It turned out he did a tour from Melbourne zoo with all these beasties to show the schools around Australia and to teach the kids about them all.

He had a funnel web spider and whilst he was showing us a little crowd formed so he gave me the spider to hold (still in it's box though) and I nearly shat myself.

At the end we were helping him pack them all away in his van and I put the container with the spider on top of everything, he then knocked it off and lid came off and the spider ran.....now it had turned dark and he had just given us all a speech about that was the only thing he had in his van that if it bit him he would be buggered as there would be no anti venom up this way. I have never ran so fast in my life :bolt:

He did catch it luckily but that is one ugly and horrible looking spider :o
