Teaching; Do I need to do a conversion for Oz?

:new: Can any one tell me if I will be able to teach with my degree in Oz.? I'll be graduating this July(hopefully!!) and want to teach primary aschool in Oz but not sure if my degree will be recognised as its the three year one in the UK.Can I do a conversion course or what? Thanks for any info. babs.

Teaching in Australia is governed by each state, so it depends where you are heading to. However, have a look through this site - Teaching Australia, which should give you an idea of what you need to know, I hope. :)

Hi,thanks for the link, I think it pretty much confirmed what i thought that my degree won't count. it seems to be a case of a four year degree only but at least I can find out now what or if i can do a conversion course.Thanks again for the link. :rolleyes: :dunno:

You can always do the final year when you get here. I had a 3 year BA and have finished my DipEd here last year. I can now work from prep to year 12 so it was worth the wait as that would never have been possible in the UK.
