Does anyone know whether I will need to supply just my proof of divorce for my first marriage (which I have) or do I need to provide a copy of the marriage cert as well ??(which I don`t have but can get a copy of from the Registrars) Just trying to think ahead and get all the paperwork together for the visa application :)

We are applying for a MODL 136 - feels good to be finally asking about visa stuff rather than the general chit chat stuff I normally ask :D

I've just looked at a newly downloaded copy of the 136 visa checklist. I note that it asks for marriage certificate (current), any divorce papers and also for any documentary evidence for change of name (e.g. deed poll). The last category would include a marriage certificate for your first marriage as this was a change of name for you from your maiden name.

In short, the answer is, yes, you will need to order a copy of your first marriage certificate. :thumb:

I can't attach the checklist for you, as it's a pdf file, but you can download it here.

I didn't have or send a copy of my first marriage certificate. Burned and danced on with glee a very long time ago. I had changed my name to my surname now before I married Terry as I didn't want the other bastard's surname appearing on Alex's birth certificate anywhere.

I never had any paperwork for when I changed my name. I went into the citizen's advice bureau and made a declaration then was just able to change my bank accounts and stuff. I did strike me as a bit odd how easy it is to get an alias if you want it. The same applies for my daughter, she took on Terry's name a long time ago, the school just let her and when she was old enough to get a national insurance number they just accepted the explanation that her biological father was a bastard and issued it in Terry's surname.

Scary really how easy it is done. No wonder they can't keep a track of terrorists and stuff.

Have wandered off the track a bit, sorry
