I just saw the headlines for the Australia v Italy soccer game Headline: Crowd turns violent after loss then I read the actual story: Story: Distress at the controversial loss spilled into violence in Melbourne, where up to 40,000 fans were expected to watch big screens set up in Lygon Street, Carlton, the heart of the city's Italian community, at Federation Square, nearby Birrarung Marr and at the Telstra Dome. The vast majority of Socceroo supporters were angry at the last gasp loss. A brawl involving about 15 people was quickly brought under control by security staff and police. Police and private security guards on foot formed a line and quickly restored order. Two people were arrested. Sounds like many nights down the pub when I was younger :D edit: and from another paper: Actual Arrest details are Supt Williams said: one person was charged after assaulting an officer, four were arrested for public drunkenness, several people were charged for carrying alcohol, while six were charged over the illegal use of flares http://www.thecouriermail.news.com.au/stor...5003402,00.html |
