Spouse Visa - Stat Decs

I'm really struggling to do the proof of relationship stat decs from Aussie friends/family. With a couple of them, I know that they're more likely to sign and get them back to us quickly if I fill them in, or at least do a suggested outline. I find it really hard to do things like this for myself - for others, no problem, but for me ... :dunno: :irked:

Does anyone have any successful samples I could use as a basis for mine please? Any help I could get on this would be great as I'm at a bit of a loss. :(

Have to agree. Our two 888's were a nightmare. They have broadband and were really excited to be our Aus stat decs but jeez! I had to download the forms and post them to them! I also sent a note of what to put. Even after all that, we heard nothing for about three months! In the end Kevan phoned pretending just to have a chat and sort of dropped in the "how you going with Penny's forms?" Oh sorry mate, put them in a drawer and forgot them!!!

I will check what info I have and e-mail it to you if you like. along with all the stat decs I wrote for the family and friends ones from the UK. Can you include attachments with e-mail from this site, I know you can't with BE?

No. I also just checked the other sites I use, and none of them allow attachments with emails either.

No option but to do direct email to email via normal email addresses.

There been loads of discussion at www.pomsinoz.com so you could try there. I can't remember the exact thread tho! Probably under migration part!

Don't worry too much about it - I think if the stat decs were too glowing or detailed about what a loving and established couple you are DIMIA might investigate - that sort of thing is just not normal.

I got my 2 brothers in law and a friend to fill in the 888 forms over here. Between them they probably wrote about 100 words. Then I got my Mum and Dad to write something from the UK - another 20 words there

I will see if I can dig them out and tell you what they wrote. It was not a problem and I got the temp spouse visa - I suppose I will have to go through the whole thing again to get the PR sometime.

Cheers,

DagBoy

Thanks for that, Dagboy. I've wondered how much detail to go into with these. A copy of the guts of yours would be fab, if you can find them!

I've now sent off the Oz ones but still need to do the statements from MrPR's family in UK, together with our own statement/s, so help is still very much appreciated.

And I know what you mean about having to go through it all again after two years - what a load of tosh! Why they can't just reserve the right to demand it if they're suspicious of a particular couple, I don't know! Keeps the buggers in employment, I suppose.

When we did ours we gave general information to everyone that did the stat decs (we also got others to do letters) ie when we met, when they would have met us - we'd been together 11 years and had visited Australia several times so would be impossible for people to remember on their own.
Big tip would be to tell people you need them asap not that you are just starting the process so they have plenty of time, if you do that then they will put them in a drawer but if they think they are urgent then they will be more likely to get them done.

Good tip, thanks Zan. :thumb:

I've actually typed up a suggested form for three people as I know how easy it is to put these things into the too-hard-basket. I've sent them all to my Mum, who is in touch with the others, and she knows the urgency so I'm sure will get them moving! I also sent a blank form for each in case they prefer to write it in their own words, which I doubt.

The statements from MrPR's family in UK will be treated the same way. They're my next job. I figure that, if I can shove something under their noses, worded from their point of view and which they're happy with, it'll be quicker to get them signed. Hope so anyway!

We're in a similar situation to you insofar as going backwards and forwards between UK and Oz, so the need to jog people's memories on dates, etc., was necessary.

Cheers again. :D
PR
