Can anyone help me I'm trying to find out some info for a friend who is migrating to Queensland and bringing their dog. All the pet companies they have tried seem to be only flying them into Sydney so do you know any that fly the pets into Brisbane directly and keep them in quarantine there?? Sasha :) |

As far as I am aware you can only fly your pet to Sydney - there is no quarrantine kennels in Qld. People going to Qld have to send their pets to Sydney and then collect at the appropriate time. I am sure others will be able to provide fuller details but having looked into it myself I think this is the only option. Blossom |

I agree with Blossom. There are currently 3 quarantine stations throughout Australia, at the following locations. Eastern Creek Quarantine Station (Sydney-New South Wales) Spotswood Quarantine Station (Melbourne-Victoria) Byford Quarantine Station (Perth-Western Australia) These are able to do interstate flights, after quarantine: http://www.dogtainers.com.au/ http://www.jetpets.com.au/ http://www.skypet.com.au/ http://www.britzinoz.com/info/pets.htm |

Tell her to speak to Airpets in the UK (if that's where she is) and they can advise her of a company to use, as I remember when we left there was a chance Phoebe would have to go to Sydney then fly across as Perth was chocka. I think it's Skypets they use but not 100% as it was a while ago now. I dont think it was a vast extra expense, just a few hundred $s. And Airpets are fantastic, as is Oz quarantine, so tell her not to worry, her pet will be well looked after :) |

I don't think it's too bad because most people send their pets out a week or so before they go, so by the time they get there, there is only about a week left before the pet gets released. |

The only downside is it is nice to be able to visit them, I know our cat was a bit het up before we visited but she was much better once we'd been. we went once a week, as it was a 2 hour drive from Bunbury, but you can ring them whenever, the staff are really helpful and dont mind letting you know how they're getting on. :) |

The only thing is then you're lumbered with a pet pretty much straight away. Phoebe arrived two days before us, which meant we had 28 days to get sorted with a rental and be able to be settled before we brought her home, which was good for both of us as it meant we didnt have to worry about the cat if we were out and about a lot, or spending time away plus when she came home it was to her new home and she wasnt moved from pillar to post, which would have been too much after the long journey and quarantine. |
