I'm starting to get things organized and Travel Insurance is one of the items on the list. I know there aren't many companies (Go Walkabout, Post Office etc) who do one-wayers, but here's the question. All of the co's I've contacted offer the 17 day max. policy - but the insured limits are pretty low (£1500 with max. single item limit of £300) - which isn't really going to cover a laptop. May I have your suggestions please? |

Not sure how practical these are, but here's some thoughts off the top of my head:

We came over with Go Walkabout and just didn't let the lap top out of our site. Apart from that one downside, they were an excellent company to go with, not that we needed them but at the time they were the only one to do the 17 days. All the others we looked at the policy stopped at passport control which was just silly. |

Thanks for the replies guys. Had another idea (as our trip will be over 17 days). Get a 30 day policy (which stops as we pass through immigration)...then take out an Aussie policy. Any ideas who may allow me to do it and whether it would be feasible? |

We used this lot to cover all valuables (laptop jewellery cameras etc) whilst travelling AND until we established Aus house contents insurance. They were the only UK company to do this, so not cheap. John Wason |

We used Go Walkabout too. Valuables like cameras and jewelry were carried as hand luggage with no insurance cover. |

Looks like we'll take out an annual policy to cover us as we've decided on a round the world ticket (which will mean we're covered as we're 'finishing' our trip in the UK). Besides - excellent value for money at just over £900 + taxes pp. We'll be taking just about a month to get to Oz once we leave the UK on 28 June. |
