Finally managed to get broadband in this area and tried installing the thing on my computer. Put the disc in, followed instructions, and it starts installing and keeps on doing it. Is it normal to take a long time for it to install? Got fed up and just stopped as looking at the flashing squares was driving me batty. It's Tiscali I'm using. Any help much welcome

Not sure about Tiscali, Griff, but could it be trying to connect to the internet during the process? If so, have you plugged everything else in (modem, phone line to socket, etc.)

I presume you've looked at their website installation instructions? http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/broadban...stallation.html

Hi PR,

rhanks for your suggestions :D

read all the instructions, followed everything to a T but after 1 hour and 45 minutes I gave up and put it all back in it's box till the "expert" came home. Suffice to say, 15 minutes later I now have my brand new, shiny broadband :D I really don't do techie. Brings to mind when I came home from Africa, I had to be shown how to work automatic washing machine, teletext, fizzy drink maker and microwave  The wonders of technology....

I had similar problem when I first installed mine

Did the same, and waited for expert to come. He disabled my anti-virus, and that fixed it

And I suppose the "expert" is about 15 years old? Or are they getting even younger these days??!!! ;)
