Just read this online article http://www.thewest.com.au/20060516/news/ge...-sto134181.html Just interested in the opinions of people who probably know a lot more about this type of stuff than me - do you think this could possibly slow down the rise in house prices in Perth??? |

And there was more bad news yesterday when FuelWatch revealed the average price of petrol in Perth was expected to jump to nearly 140¢ a litre this week. PMSL, it's been that price in Bunbury for a couple of weeks now! |

Have a quick read of this topic on a property forum: http://www.somersoft.com/forums/showthread...1607#post211607 It relates to WA property. And note the comments of the 3rd poster, one of that forums experienced top 20 posters. Talking about 140c petrol, there are actually places in QLD that it is that price too, but we're still around 117c |

There was a thing on the news about backpackers queuing up for people who wanted to buy plots of land. And one place did a bingo type thing where they picked out numbers as there were so many people after about 30 plots. Down here I know on the estate we live in the guy has nearly 100 names down for land, they are only releasing about another 30 or so plots. Not sure there are any signs it will slow down soon, although there is a lot on whingeing about petrol prices and interest rates (Aussies, whingeing? surely not! ) doesnt seem to have had much effect overall at this stage... |

Cheers for that ABCD, made interesting reading - the way things are going we will be living in a tent on the beach
:D It`s really scarey when you think that a year ago we were looking at 2 bed houses for under $250000, now you can`t really get anything for under $275000. Do a search on Realestate .com and it will come up with 170 results but 8 out 10 on each results page are sold or under offer. Trouble is we haven`t got a house to sell here , so we will only have about £15 - 20,000 for a deposit, as we don`t want a huge debt around our necks, looks like we either buy a small unit or rent for longer and try to get more of a deposit (but with the house prices going up in the meantime) |

Try not to worry too much, there ARE still bargains out there they just take a bit of finding. :) |
