average teaching salary compared to UK? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deciding to give up two well paid (relatively speaking) jobs and little in the way of travelling costs, along with a good house in a lovely part of the country to go to Oz! There is a risk that one of us will find a job and the other won't unless it means travelling some distance or only having a temporary contract. We are trying to work out how better/worse off we could be.... so what is the average teaching salary? where do we stand with present incrament levels? would we have to start at the bottom over there? |

Hi Suzanne, Can only help with salaries in NSW. 2006 4year trained: $47,621 - $69334 2007 $49,050 - $72,454 2008 $50,522 - $75,252 These are the current rates for permanent classroom teachers. There are 4 steps on the casual scale. Sorry don't have the to hand but the top daily rate is $284.93. You normally get some credit for years of experience. :) |
