Vista Print FREE photo calenders
Posted by ABCDiamond (Admin) at Nov 20 2009, 11:20 AM. 3 comments
Has anyone else seen this FREE offer for a photo calender free of charge, from Vista print ?
Well, my advice is don't bother.
I've kept getting the emails, and today thought, why not, so I go through the process, select 13 photos to go on the calender, choosing the free options EVERY time, with no paid extras.
Get to the end, and enter credit card details, then see the cost...... $21
The calender is free, but there is a charge for uploading the photos, a hefty delivery charge and for Tax... $3.98
There was an option to cancel, so I chose that one

Zac is going to Ormiston College in January and I am a bit stressed with Jason not working, about the costs of books, uniform, fees etc. I am not worrying about the fees too much, as hopefully in January I will be increasing my hours and fingers crossed Jason will have a new job soon
Anyway yesterday I thought I would go along and put some uniform on lay by for him, but when I got there I had to ask in the office where the uniform shop was and was given a map to follow, and then the lady pointed out the uniform shop and also the Recycled Shop for second hand uniform, which I did not know was there, so was very pleased.
Anyway I go in there first to see what they had, and wow, its amazingly well stocked. I got him perfect school bag for $20 instead of $75, hat $25 instead of $95 etc.
I spent $200 and have kitted him out in almost perfect condition uniform. I got two shirts, two pairs shorts, tie, socks (which looked unworn and were 50c each pair, instead of $9), sports shorts and top, swimmers and rashie, house sports shirt and the hat and bag.
I worked out this lot would have cost me over $600 if I had gone to the new uniform shop.
I do love a bargain. Its great with a 10 year old boy too, he could not care less where the uniform comes from

Why I decided today was the day I'll never know. Its 34 degrees and the ground is hard and is full of lemon tree roots, but hey ho. Flynn and I had to go to Bunnings for some wire and we ended up buying seedlings of water melon, zucini, pumpkin, tomatoes, cucumber, egg plant, snow peas and silver beet.
Does anyone have any do's or don'ts? I'm not planting them till this eve when its cooler and obviously they'll need water everday (we have a tank) What about compost? fertilizer? water saving granuels? etc etc?
I'm strangely excited by all of this..

I work from home and have a small office, that was converted from a garage.
Its absolutely stinking hot in here and the fan is just not doing enough.
I am supposed to keep all work computers and equipment in an environment of 24 degrees or below, and its well over 30 degrees at moment. This room is particularly hot as its surrounded by indoor walls and I am unable to have window open for airflow as its too noisy outside and I am on the phone constantly.
Anyway I need to get an air conditioner unit installed, I want a wall unit with cooling and heating (for winter). I saw a system in Bunnings yesterday for $479 and was tempted to buy it, its an Akai inverter system, but I did not buy it, mainly as suspicious as such a cheap price and worried that it might be a very noisy unit. Anyone have experience of Akai units?? I absolutely need the quietest unit possible. We have Daikin units in other rooms in the house and they are fairly quiet, but expensive, and as this room is not too big 3m x 8x I am hoping a smaller, cheaper unit will do, but need to know how noisy they would be.
What units do others have and are they quiet?
Thanks

how lucky I am that my oh recovered from his illness.
The husband of a lady I have known for several years on Calorie King and Facebook died last night, unexpectedly, in forties a real shock to everyone this morning.
What can I say nothing makes it better other than support from all of her friends.

Anybody else having probs getting into BE. I have been trying to get into the BE forum since yesterday, but unable to
I hardly ever post on there, but like to read and keep up with stuff. I thought yesterday the site must be having problems, but it seems unusual that its lasting this long.
I have tried getting in on my saved links to BE, but I also tried a search on Google when this failed, and that also came up as unable to access the site, so am really
now.
Not having problems with anything else.

Had an email overnight to say a good friend in the UK's 16 yo son died at school yesterday. This is when I hate being so far away and the time difference .... can't ring, text or call in to see her. She must be devastated .. she lived for her kids.
Remembrance Sunday/Armistice Day

just been reading on the sheffield forum a whole host of arguements about whether the 2 minute silence should be observed - many say we shouldnt be forced to observe this 2 minutes silence, just as many say we should. those who argued against it said it was their choice, those who argued for it said those who didnt were being selfish/were ignoring the sacrifice made by the Forces in ww1,ww2 and all subsequent wars.
what do you think? should we be made to observe it? if our forefathers fought for our freedom, shouldnt we have the freedom to choose when/how we remember them? if that means not observing the silence, should we be criticised by those who think we should?
I personally buy a poppy every year, and observe the silence on the sunday and armsitice day ... not quite sure what i think of those who dont - guess i dont have an opinion really ... i think its a personal thing. today i was in toysrus at 11am, and the whole store stood quietly - it was quite moving. i overheard afterwards several people who said they had forgotten about it ...
I think the 2 minute silence should still be done publicly, and those who wish to observe it can do so. I think there should be more done on a daily basis to make sure everyone remembers the sacrifices being made today, as well as those made generations ago. You only have to watch the tv coverage of the village of Wooton Bassett when the bodies of dead soldiers are repatriated from afghanistan ... the whole village comes to a standstill when soldiers are brought home, to show thier respects.
it certainly stirred up quite emotional arguements on www.sheffieldforum.com !!!
